Patrick Powell is the Irish-born chef who is currently heading up the kitchen at Chiltern Firehouse.
Born in Killala, County Mayo, he found his way into Ireland’s kitchens at the age of 15, and took up his first apprenticeship at the famed L’Ecrivain in Dublin. Following three formative years under Derry and Sallyanne Clarke, Patrick moved to Australia where he worked at Cutler & Co in Melbourne under Andrew Mc Connell, before finally arriving in London in 2011. Furthering his international experience and technical training at Wild Honey, Patrick worked alongside Anthony Demetre, and took the helm at Demetre’s three month pop-up at Tower 42. The opportunity to join the team at Chiltern Firehouse then arose; hired for a week for the opening, Patrick never left, and was duly appointed Head Chef after only four months. Working closely with chef Nuno Mendes, Patrick has enhanced his technical background by adopting a more creative approach. June 2017 sees Patrick embark on a new, soon to be announced restaurant project in East London.
